2/3 cup shortening
3/4 cups sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons orange rind (grated)
2 cups flour (sifted)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Orange Butter Icing
1 cup powered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon orange juice
1 1/2 tablespoon cream
Mix shortening, sugar, and egg
Add juice and rind
Add remaining ingredients, mix well
Drop rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart on a ungreased cookie sheet
Bake at 400 F for 8 to 10 minutes
Cool on sheet for several minutes, than transfer to wire rack
When cooled frost with icing
