1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Mix flour, baking powder and salt
In large bowl beat shortening and butter
Add sugar and beat until fluffy
Add egg and vanilla, beat well
Add flower mixture, mix well
Cover and chill at least 1 hour
Roll & cut with favorite cutters
Sprinkle chocolate pieces and nut in middle of cookie
Place a matching cookie on top
Pinch edges to seal
Place on ungreased cookie sheet
Bake at 325 F for 15 to 20 minutes
Allow to cool and frost with your favorite icing.
