1/2 pound butter 
2 1/2 cups quick oats 
2 1/4 cups light brown sugar 
3 tablespoons flour 
1/2 teaspoon salt 
1 egg, slightly beaten 
1 teaspoon vanilla 
Dissolve sugar in butter and let cool. 
Add dry ingreadients, then egg and vanilla. 
Drop by teaspoonsfuls on a foil lined cookie sheet 
Bake at 375o F for 8 minutes or until light brown
