German Apple Cake

2 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 ½ tsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. salt
cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
4 cups peeled, thinly sliced apples

Icing: 1 (3 oz) pkg. cream cheese
1 ½ tbsp melted butter
½ tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs with oil until foamy. Add sugar, soda (dissolved in water), vanilla, flour, cinnamon and salt. Batter will be quite thick. Add nuts and apples. Bake in 350º oven in greased 13 x 9 inch pan 50-60 minutes. Cool. Blend Icing ingredients and spread on cake.
