Apple Drop Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1 1/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 cup apple juice (or milk)
1 cup apples (chopped fine)
1 cup raisins (optional)
1 cup nuts (optional)

Cream the shortening and sugar.

Add eggs. Beat well.

Mix all the dry ingredients together. You can sift or stir these up really well. Then, pour half of the dry mix in the sugar mixture.

Add juice (or milk) and mix well.

Pour in the rest of the dry mix and stir again.

Put the apples, raisins, and nuts in the batter and fold until they are evenly distributed.

Grease a cookie sheet, and drop by spoonfuls on sheet. Give a little space, since these do spread some. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes at 350 degrees F.
